Senior Care

"Thank you for your professionalism, support and dedication to our situation.
It was not an easy assignment for any of us."

Seniors hire companions for a variety of reasons. Many older people live independently and remain fairly self-sufficient, but require help with some daily tasks. Cardinal Nannies and Companions takes time to visit your home and match you up with an ideal companion that suits your personality and time requirements.

Cardinal Nannies and Companions also fills gaps left by the healthcare industry. "People get sent home from the hospital earlier than they used to," says owner Moyra Stephen, "and sometimes they just need help." Most caregivers are PSW or HCA trained, and are very familiar with palliative care and provide TLC without being nurses.

We Understand Your Specific Needs

Upon referral by a Hospital's discharge planner, Cardinal Nannies and Companions owner Moyra Stephen often visits a client in the hospital prior to their discharge. There, she can discuss their needs and preferences and arrange for care (even 24-hour care) if needed. Caregivers are available on a part-time or full-time, live-in or live-out basis. Hours can be reduced gradually as the client's condition improves, and they begin to regain independence. In addition, hours can be increased as needed.

We Are With You Every Step of the Way

Many seniors and their families prefer the assurance of having a caregiver 24-hours-a-day, in case they're needed. This enables the client to stay in his/her own home rather than move to a retirement facility or nursing home, bringing peace of mind to the client and family members.

Others simply want a friendly visitor once or twice a week, with a nutritious home-cooked meal. Usually, this service is provided by the same caregiver, although some people prefer to see different faces from time to time. Many companions are happy to take clients shopping or drive them to regular appointments.
